Google buys Admob for $750 milions

Analytics says that mobile advertising market will be worth over three bilions of dollars in 2013, yet Google went ahead and already bought Admob mobile advertising and monetization solution for a shocking amount of $750 000 000.

Admob is typical marketplace where advertisers contact publishers and buy adverts directly from them. Admob platform has some nice features like mobile analytics and mobile metrics (which is pretty much the same functionality as in other advertising platforms but with “mobile” prefix).

On their site Admob claims that there are already have over 15 thousands of sites in their network with and 125 bilions of adverts displays.

Why did Google wanted to aquire Admob? They already display ads on mobile platforms, but they work in a different niche, aquiring Admob will allow them to enter other markets like: displaying ads in the apps, and on mobile websites. Anyway Google started official sites with facts about aquiring Admob so you can go directly to the source if you want to.

Now, the question is, will mobile users like the new types of ads displayed on their smarphones and iphones? Personally i do not like the idea of an ad displayed in the application i am using, as for web we are all used to seeing them so probably it will make no difference if that’s are ads on the Web or on the mobile Web if you will.

Second and more important question is. If Google spend so much money to get a mobile platform, is the mobile market big enough to make some decent amount money on it?
