Yesterday Brandon from Mortgage Place contacted me about a contest that they are having with amazingly high ($10 000) first place reward. The goal is to create mortage calculator using PHP, JavaScript and AJAX, so it will be a kind of web application.
Anyway, here is a part of email that Brandon sent me:
It’s a legit competition with $10k going to the winner, $500 new egg gift cards going to the 2nd and 3rd place folks, and we’re offering up $1k to the person/site that refers that winner so you could even have a shot at some dough without any work.
Before you start coding go to the competition main page and read it. Then get specification and read it as well! Only about 10% of programmers deliver what clients need, because rest of them simply does not listen to what client want, so do not fall into this trap.
To be honest for me it all looks damn good and i will definitely try my luck in this one. Good luck to everyone.

Greg,
Sorry I am posting this here. I have a question about your post on using wordpress.com to build a high pr blog getting PR from their tag pages. I just noticed the tag pages at wordpress.com are not using no-follow links. Does this render your method useless?
Jonathan
even i am interested in participating in the completion..
No it does not look good. They claim sole ownership (not use, ownership) over your work, whether you win or not. It seems to me they figured why pay a consultancy when we can make a contest and get many times the work. That right transfer probably wouldn’t hold up in the court of law, but who is going to sue to retain their rights to a mortgage calculator?
What they are doing is extremely dirty.
did you win?
No, it turned out to be a SCAM.
there are mortgage calculators online that are free but i wonder if they are up to date ..-
