Hey, guys. I have very interesting topic to discuss. “Where to outsource programming?”. This is the question i was asked this week few times already. So actually, yes it still a good topic to discuss, but at the same time if someone ask me this question again, then i will send him here (and increase my pageviews
).
I can’t relate to outsourcing people in general, because i have zero experience with this, however i worked as a freelancer (which means that i was outsourced) and i hired webmasters to do the job for me, so i think i am in position to write few good advices on outsourcing webmasters and programmers.
First of all, to outsource webmaster you need to find one, good places for that are webmaster forums like DigitalPoint or SitePoint, these two are the best, to find some good webmasters, however the big disadvantage of forums is that most of the guys out there are completely anonymous and making deals there is a bit unsafe.
When i was starting out i got a project from some guy (i do not give his name here as it is completely irrelevent), i completed almost a half of the project which took me about two weeks, i emailed this guy and it turned out that he is not interested anymore. Not that he tol me that, he just wasen’t responding to my emails, you can find similar storires on DigitalPoint, so keep in mind that, if you are going to hire a webmaster thru discussion board always make some kind of legal agreememnt with him.
Better place and more reputable to outsource programmers and webmasters are freelance services like GetAFreelancer, GetACoder or pretty new GoFreelance, they are usually free to join and use. This services work pretty much like auction sites. You create a project, define what do you want freelancer to do and how much are you willing to pay. If webmasters registred there decide that your project is interesting they will start to bid on it, but unlike ebay, with every next bid price goes down.
The bad thing about this kind of services is that it is still buyers market, so buyers can get big projects done really cheap, you would be amazed, how low price can go.
The cool thing about freelancer services is that they are not anonymous, so you are less likely to find scammers there. They also have comments system pretty much like eBay, so you can checkout what someone is about before making a deal with him.
Know any other place to outsource webmaster of programmer? Post it in comments section.
